Praying for In Excelsis Deo!

The team and I are still buzzing from our Trials Day success; it was a very exciting day and it’s onwards and upwards for Gidleigh Park and, hopefully, the yard as a whole. We have two more declared to run at Sandown on Saturday.

Sandown

In Excelsis Deo runs in the two-mile Handicap Chase (14:00). This will be his first time at Sandown, but he has run well to place in both his starts so far this season at Cheltenham. He has done his best work at the business end of his races so far, which is positive, and, although he’ll need to take a bit of a step forward from these two runs, if he shows he can be more fluent in the closing stages around Sandown on Saturday, he’ll be in with every chance. Conditions should be in his favour and he ought to have no excuses.

In the 2m7½f handicap hurdle, Dubrovnik Harry will be running at Sandown for the second time (15:10), the first time being back in March 2022, where he placed after running a nice race round the track. He was beaten that day by two horses that have both gone on to win. His reappearance run at Cheltenham in October was an impressive run for a place in a big field of 20.

His most recent run at Haydock was a little disappointing, but he’s been in very good form at home recently, so I will expect better if the race goes to plan on Saturday. He has already proven that he can stay at Cheltenham, and I hope he does himself justice.

Have a lovely weekend,

Harry
